We will explore not only the events that shaped the foundations of the American nation\, but also the people who contributed to the cause of independence\, some of whom will be very familiar and others who may be new to you. \nFolsom Tavern Tours (11 am & 1 pm): Our trained docents will lead you on a tour that will will examine Folsom Tavern’s unique history\, the place that taverns held in colonial and revolutionary history and the different experiences that people had in taverns. This is an immersive\, sensory-friendly tour and guests are encouraged to sit on the chairs and touch the objects on view. A children’s room\, complete with period clothing and books\, is also featured on the tour. This tour is recommended for all ages. \nAll guided tours are limited to six participants and depart from the Ladd-Gilman House. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged. Join us in your Halloween costume as we stroll the cemetery\, discover stories of the past and receive a colonial treat! The American Independence Center invites you to join them at the Winter Street Cemetery to celebrate the waning light and autumn season. Your colonial guide will meet you at the Winter Street Cemetery where you will see the final resting place and the graves of many of Exeter’s famous and infamous revolutionary residents\, hear their stories\, and learn about this historic cemetery. \nPlease note: This event does not take place at the museum. Ample on-street parking is available at Winter Street Cemetery. This is an outdoor event held rain or shine. Please dress accordingly. \nSafety Notes: \n\nIn order to keep our guests safe we encourage social distancing\, and encourage unvaccinated guests to wear a mask.\nAll tours are limited to 10 people and will be held exclusively outside.\nHand sanitizer will be provided at the entrance/exit point.\nNo public restroom available.\nSunset is at 5:45 pm. DESCRIPTION:$15 Non-members\n$10 MembersJoin us for an evening around the fire on the lawn of the Folsom Tavern as we explore the spiritualist movement in the 19th century and its ties to America’s founding principles on freedom of religion\, as well as to a former tenant of our Folsom Tavern\, who was a spiritualist conducting ‘demonstrations’ from the building in the 19th century.   \nApril Sheerin\, Church of Spiritual Life member\, medium\, and Director of New Awakenings\, will be on-site to share perspectives on Spiritualism today and offer mediumship demonstrations.   \nLight refreshments will be available as well.
